All we really know about this “company” is that they know a lot of internet buzz words like “bulletin” and “feed”, and that they aggregate other people’s content on their site, and that they’re charging people for the use of their meaningless logo. Oh, and they don’t want to pay for labor.

From their site:

What You Get

  • Use of USA-C logo for labeling, marketing and branding
  • Style guide for use of logo plus suggestions for you to maximize the use of the logo
  • Link from our website to your website
  • Certificate with registered number
  • Consumers instantly recognize your products are USA-Certified, complying to US Laws

So by paying to use their logo on your site or product, you’re showing consumers that you adhere to all the laws you have to adhere to in order to do business in this country?!? I really hate people who take advantage of other peoples’ patriotism to make a buck.

Don’t Pay $10 an Hour, Working Fail Gives FREE Social Networking Advice!

// June 12th, 2009 // 3 Comments » // Funny Job Listings

We see these type of “teach me how to make money online” listings all the damn time and it’s obnoxious for a couple of reasons. The most obvious being if I KNOW how to do it, why would I teach some moron who has no clue? At least the wages aren’t usually like just above minimum wage.

From the listing:

“WANTED: Smart Internet Individual To Give Me Lessons In Social Media (Lakewood)

I’m in Lakewood, Co and want to find someone who knows their way around the internet and who can give me a couple of lessons about social media. I figure a couple of hours at $10.00 an hour is all I can do.
I am also open to actually just finding someone to do this for our project.

For screening purposes please send me your #.”

So for $10 an hour this is what you get:

We walk you through making a facebook page, a a twitter account and show you how to resize some photos for your various online profiles. Also, our suggestion is that you spam the hell out of every service you join and only talk about yourself and your business. It’s also important that you speak about yourself as much as possible in the third person to show people how serious you are about personal branding. Also, be transparent about the fact that you paid someone $10 an hour to teach you this stuff as it demonstrates that you have at least $10 to your name and therefore your new online business will succeed…. believe me, that’s more than most people start off with.

Do Me A Favor – Teach Me How To Make Money On The Internet

// May 9th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Funny Job Listings

Social networking sites such as facebook, myspace, and twitter can be a great way to generate traffic to your website, and as anyone in the industry knows, a high volume of traffic to a site translates into high ad revenue. It’s not as simple as just tweeting “Hey look at my website” seventeen times a day, and hoping for the best. It requires an investment of both time and effort, as well as a little finesse to effectively use social networking sites and tools to generate traffic to any given website. So why not teach a stranger how to do all of that as a favor to them?

From the listing:

I need someone to explain these social networking sites to me. It is for a commercial or business reason. It would be a favor to give a few minutes on the phone to explain these to see if there is a way to make money with what I do and how others would like a mall. http://fundlink.info – I can explain when we talk. Let me know how to reach you by phone please.

  • it’s NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests
  • Compensation: no pay

I’ll gladly do you that favor, but only if you do me a favor in return: pay me for my time.

Seeking Web Savy Sucker

// May 6th, 2009 // No Comments » // Funny Job Listings

If you have “insane webs skills”, have some experience with videos and podcasts, and don’t want to make more than $100 a week, then this job is for you!

Seeking intern to work for new media company focused on social media, new media podcasting and video production. We will train you on social media, video production and podcast creation. Need self starter that has insane web skills and works well with MAC and PC. Pay is minimum contract at 12-15 hours per week (possible more) through the summer with potential to come on staff as we build here in South Florida.

If you have any twitter pages, facebook, blogs, websites or video and podcast samples send us links that will get you up on the list fast.

* Compensation: Minimum pay as intern 7.00 per hour

Is it just us or is that a lot of responsibility for $7 an hour? You’d basically be part of the branding and public image for this company and they don’t want to pay you enough to take it seriously. That should play out pretty interestingly for them…

Yeah, we know it’s an internship but at $7 an hour we’d rather see “no pay” with college credit.

Create My Website and Build Traffic For $400

// May 2nd, 2009 // No Comments » // Funny Job Listings

In our experience building traffic for a website is never a part time gig. It takes a lot of work and a steady flow of content. So we find it kind of funny when job posters make statements like this:

We are looking for a talented person who can create websites, myspace, blogs, youtube. This person must be able to update my website and create traffic to the site. This is a part time position.

* Compensation: $100-400

Maybe $400 isn’t a bad price to build your website, but not the laundry list of things you’re asking for… and certainly not to get your site off the ground for you. Are you really sure you even want to do this? It sounds like you’re passing a lot of work to someone else and you don’t have the money for that.

Also, you want someone to create myspace and youtube? And perhaps a time machine?
